What are the benefits of attending the Sliabh Liag Photo Walk?

Photo walks are a fantastic way to step away from your daily routine and be one with your camera or smartphone in nature.  We all spend too many hours sitting in front of a computer or tv – I’m as guilty as anyone.  Our Photo Walks encourage you to get increase your step count, take in fresh air and be more present.

Think of them as ‘me time’, a chance to escape from daily stresses or worries.  Being a photographer can be quite an isolating job or hobby.  We spend a lot of time on our own.  Attending a photo walk helps build your communication skills and confidence.

When you attend one of our photo walks, it’s the perfect opportunity to hang out with fellow photographers.  You have the opportunity to bounce ideas off each other and check out equipment and accessories.  Gain inspiration and leave feeling motivated to try new techniques.   Make new friends along the way who have similar interests and what better way to do it as part of a supportive community.

Photo walks allow you to explore new places and learn about our country.  We take our coastline for granted at times.  Not appreciating how blessed we are, living less than 2 hours drive at most to see the sea.  Our Photo Walks provide you with the chance to explore the beauty of coast and nature, capturing it all on camera.

New surroundings challenge you to find unique perspectives and compositions, breaking routine and fostering creativity.

Photo walks encourage you to observe your surroundings more keenly, honing your ability to notice interesting details and moments worth capturing.  By actively engaging in the process of taking photos during a walk, you develop a deeper appreciation for the art of photography and the effort required to capture a great shot.

As I tell all my students, the more practice you put in, the better your work will become.  By attending regular photo walks, you use your camera or smartphone camera a lot more and your technical proficiency improves.

Combining exercise with a creative pursuit like photography provides a holistic approach to personal well-being.  The physical activity involved in walking contributes to a healthier lifestyle.
